Marketing career HELP?
I am currently a High School Senior and a College Freshmen. I am not quite sure which career choice would be great due to the economic downfall at this point in time. I am for certain that I want to major in Marketing but I am not sure what careers are in demand greatly for someone with a marketing degree. I have little experience at this point, although I am currently employed at a franchise of McDonald's awaiting to obtain a management position for the restaurant, but I am eagerly to obtain as much experience as possible. If anyone could offer any assistance with this situation feel free to message me.

Having had the opportunity of being both side of the fence as a corporate employee and a business owner I like to say that the current economy down turn has created some uncertainty and opportunity at the same time. There is no question that education is the most basic foundation of any success, however you will not get the best training and experience in school. The ideal situation would be for you to stay at your work to get the experience which if fortified with your education it also pays for expenses as well (depending on your financials). Which direction to take, currently it is any one’s guess that how long before the economy would fully recover so most of your sectors would be sluggish at best next 5 to 7 years out. Areas that are most promising: healthcare, energy, service areas, green technologies. Also you could potentially create a career path at your current job with more advanced education, after all McDonald's is a multi billion and multi national company which is expanding and will need new people all the time. I hope this helps best of luck.
Hi Samuel - their is much opportunity in an economic downturn to take a new direction and embark on something new. We are a company that has been in the marketing industry for 15 years and are currently experiencing steady growth. You can start part-time while working around your McDonald's schedule and grow into full time, or just use it as a stepping stone to your next career move. Either way, it's a viable and lucrative opportunity that is helping a lot of people. You can certainly feel free to call me at 860-295-8852 to discuss this - thanks and I certainly wish you the best of luck in everything you do moving forward. Kathy Allen
