Twitter vs. Email Marketing?
Which do you think is more effective and why?
Category:

Hi Lisa,
Both are good at their own stand. Still, I prefer twitter as it is free. All you have to focus is on the message (its style, relevance) and hashtags. People interested will pick up ur message and may even pass it on to others. With email-marketing, though you can send to your contact database, it would be more like spamming. A shot in the dark. Even a well-composed email may land up in trash if you do not have an appealing subject. Furthermore, I would use third party newsletter companies that claim to send your mails only to people who wish to receive them. In short, Twitter allows you total control over online marketing (and you can start from day 1). On the contrary, you have to rely on a 3rd party when you opt for email-marketing. And if you wish to create your own opt-in list for the latter, imagine the time spent on creating the database! -- Best Regards, Arun Kumar M. http://dreams-central.com/testimonials.htm Twitter: @DreamsCentral Facebook: http://bit.ly/ZZTEY Mail: contact@dreams-central.com Signed: Saturday, October 31, 2009, 5:44:47 PM IST
The question of which is better or more effective marketing between email and twitter is an easy one for me personally. I always advise my clients to use a combination of the two but to use Twitter as the initial form of contact. With twitter you can target specific areas of interest and cover a large number of people in a very short amount of time. There is also the ability to build relationships quickly.
Once a business relationship has been established then direct emails can be made. The emails will be far more readily accepted since the sender is actually known and not tossed among a sea of saturated spam mail. So my answer is to utilize a combination of both and your success will be far more effective. PS I took a quick look at your site and loved it, Great Idea! Hi Lisa,
I agree with the comments above. I think both marketing tactics Twitter and E-marketing have their benefits and when used in conjunction with other SMO and SEO strategies will yield significantly greater results than selecting only one marketing tactic. What you might want to consider is at what stage do you want to employ each of these tactics. SEO and SMO are great at generating web traffic. E-marketing is fabulous at engaging your user base.
