Looking to start an internet based landscape consulting business

Sounds like what you want to do is create a membership site for landscaping and gardening. This business model is growing online. There are lots of ways that you would be able to monetize it, too, from creating your own video series to writing ebooks, you name it. Great idea, especially since you have expert status. Do you have a website now?

Peter, I think your well on your way to a good idea. You probably have alot of great information and you should give it away for free. Which will lead to money here's how.

Create a website with articles that address all the problems of landscaping, like Eunice mentioned you can create how-to videos etc. It won't take long to build readership if you have useful information, and especially if it's free.

Now that you have people reading your website, it's simple to add Google Adsense to generate revenue. You can also sell ad space to landscaping product suppliers. Like fertilizer companies, lawn mowers, garden supply etc. With decent readership businesses will gladly pay for ad space.

With enough content you can eventually publish a book to sell on your website.

Chances are the majority of your readers aren't going to want one-on-one advice. But there may be a good percentage who do. You can then create a paid support service.

Before you start building a website you need to create some content. Or at least get a list of content your going to write for example. What are the major categories of landscaping? Bushes & Trees, Lawn, Garden, etc? Then write down some ideas for each one. What time of year to plant, best soils to use. Bringing dead plants back to life etc. Categorize these and then start writing. This way when you build your site, your not trying to fill dead space. You should build your site around your content not the other way around.

Don't worry about creating videos at first, you should just worry about creating quality articles that provide information that really solve peoples problems. If you do this then people will come to read them, and tell other people about them.

If you'd like any further advice or some more detailed info. Just ask.
